Some Would Disagree

Snow Is Not

I walked down Yates Street yesterday and saw some new graffiti. This one was funny and wasn't defacing anything so I didn't mind it.

This was the last thing I expected to see when walking around downtown. But I thought it was kinda cool that they left it up.

Cashew Tree

Cashew Tree
Originally uploaded by .lou.

This was the first photo I posted to Flickr. I took it while I was in Belize last summer- it's a cashew tree. For the record, cashew wine doesn't taste that great.
This photo is also number three on my most viewed, I assume because of it's old age.

Recording History

Bay 07
Originally uploaded by firemind.

I took many photos of architectural features last year. My goal wasn't to be artistic. I wanted to record what I saw and take a little bit of the beauty home with me.

This is a photo of the old Hudson Bay Store. The Bay is now located in a mall downtown. The future of the building is still not decided.

I shopped in this building several times over the years. I also did security there for a few months.

Taking photos of "old things" creates something new from them.

Celebrating The New Year With Food

Western Omelet

This was one of the last pics I took in 2004 and the first one I uploaded to Flickr in 2005. The photo lasted longer than the food.

Another man's trash...

Old Bike
Originally uploaded by sek1186.

I saw this as I was leaving from my little trip in downtown Roanoke. This old bike was just sitting out by the bus station. It may have been someone's trash, but now its one of my favorite photos that I've taken. Plus, the confused looks on the guys' faces outside as I took the photo were great.

January Theme: Old And New

January is an odd time. We are ready (or not) for the new year but still recovering from the old one. Our theme this month takes this into consideration. We will post old pics of things that were new to us; new pics of old things; or any other combination of old and new. There should be lots of variety for you to enjoy!
