Starfish Glassworks is an interesting place. There are beautiful works of art to be seen and visitors can watch the glassblowers at work. The building at Yates and Broad was vacant on and off for years. Starfish broke that 'curse' and celebrated it's 8th anniversary this year.

I will try get a good exterior pic to either replace or complement this one.

bubble gum

Originally uploaded by onthegetgo.

I have always liked bubble gum machines. I don;t know why. When I was younger, we used to go to an Italian resturant after my little league baseball games. After the meal, usually consisting of pizza and pasta, my brothers and I would get gumballs. Then we would get a toothpick and make a homemade blow-pop. Those were good times. In fact, I think I am going to start doing that again.

This was taken at a swim meet I was at today and yesterday. I swam very well and had an excellent meet altogether, dropping time in all my events. I was very happy with myself.

fish and chips at Walton on the Hill

fish and chips at Walton on the Hill

Today 13 November is a gorgeous autumn day in South East England. My son and I went to feed the ducks at Walton On The Hill, and bought fish and chips to feed ourselves whilst we fed the wildlife. Mine looked so good I had to let you share - there are, after all, many pictures of ducks, and of gulls muscling in on the act, and mine along with the gull ones are here

I saw these old bricks and knew they had to be significant. I researched the history of Victoria and found I had been standing beside the remains of a landmark.

This is one reason I like living in Victoria. History is everywhere.

Fisherman's Wharf is a nice spot to visit in the Summer and Fall. The Harbour Ferries stop there and 'Barb's' makes great food.

Another reason for stopping by is to see the Harbour Seals that hang out there. This seal and another were begging for herring as usual. That day they were lucky.

I was on my way to see a friend in central London, and wanted to take a picture of this memorial. As I walked over I noticed the woman sitting on the memorial. My first instinct was to wait until she had left, but it was then I noticed the inscription, which seemed very apt. and resulted in this.

It was only when I got home and got the photo off the camera that I realised that it looked as if Oscar was also on the phone.

Dots

Dots is a store that has been around for years. I have never been inside.

Recently the outside was repainted and I liked the makeover. Soon after, I was invited to join the Spotted, dotted, and striped group at flickr. I knew then that I had to take this picture.

When I started the Murals and Mosaics group I submitted the picture. I suppose it isn't exactly a mural, but it is mural-like and adds to the ambiance of the building.

Sometimes we have strange relationships with what we photograph.
